(KCEN) -- Another state takes a step closer to legalizing gay marriage.

The Illinois Senate voted to approve a bill that legalizes gay marriage yesterday afternoon.

It will move on to the House next, where it will be voted on in the spring.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is expected to sign the bill if the measure comes to his desk.
