The game was tight through the first half with neither team gaining more than a four-point lead. MCC led 35-31 at halftime.
The
Highlanders opened the second half on a 9-1 run to take the 44-32
lead,the largest of the contest with 17:41 remaining in the game. The
Cougars steadily chipped away at the MCC lead, cutting it to one, 62-61,
with 1:12 on the clock. The Highlanders ended the game going 9-10 from
the free throw line and holding Collin to seven points to secure the
win.
Clarence Willard and Shawn Prudhomme led the Highlanders
with 15 points each. D.J. Weathers and Shawn Prudhomme scored 13 and 12,
respectively. Wayne Langston added 10.
MCC will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Hill. The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
