(KCEN) -- There was a deadly shooting in Rockwall last night.

The suspect has been identified as Anthony Dewayne Lewis, who served two terms as a Hunt County Constable.

Police say Lewis shot and killed his former girlfriend and wounded another man in a Rockwall parking lot.

He then lead police on a 45 minute car chase which ended after he ran over a spike strip.

Police say Lewis then exited the car with a gun and police shot him.

In a recent voter guide, Lewis described himself as a veteran law enforcement officer with 25 years of experience.

Lewis is in critical condition at Parkland Hospital.
