Prosecutors released more details in court today during Oscar Pistorius' bail hearing.
They say the South African Olympian shot through a locked bathroom door four times, hitting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, a law graduate and model, three times.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said there was nothing to support the Olympian's claim that he Steenkamp was an intruder.
He said she had "nowhere" to go and her death must have been "horrific," insisting Pistorius was guilty of premeditated murder.
Pistorius wept uncontrollably in court as prosecutors called him a cold blooded murderer.
His defense lawyer denied the charge, saying the shooting was an accident.
Pistorius made history at the London Olympics last year when he became the first double-amputee runner to compete on the track at the games and is one of South Africa's most famous athletes.
A memorial service will be held for Steenkamp today.
