More than a dozen people are injured after a gas explosion and a massive blaze at a Kansas City restaurant.

It happened Tuesday in an upscale shopping district.

The cause of the blast is still under investigation, but witnesses have reported smelling natural gas hours before the explosion.

Officials say the restaurant was unable to account for three people...but it is unknown if they were caught in the fire or had left earlier.

Cadaver dogs are searching the smoldering remains and officials say it could take hours.
