(KCEN) -- Microsoft is counting on it's new Internet email service to catapult the company back to the top of the email pile.
More than 60 million users have already signed up for the service since its preview launch back in July.
And just this past weekend, Microsoft removed it from the preview phase and opened it up to the public.
Previous users of Hotmail will be automatically switched over to Outlook by this summer.
But users can switch over before then if they choose to do so.
Users of outlook.com can keep the same @hotmail address and all their settings will stay the same with no disruption.
