(KCEN) -- Rescued from an open manhole.

A San Antonio woman fell into a manhole that wasn't covered and investigators say thieves may be responsible for stealing it.

The 20-year-old woman was trapped 10 feet below ground, only found after a man walking by heard her scream.

Dozens of firefighters pulled the 20-year-old woman to safety. She suffered only minor cuts and bruises.

More than 500 manhole covers have been stolen within the last two years in San Antonio, leading police to believe this one was also taken illegally.
