(KCEN) -- It's no secret that if you are trying to lose weight, you need to eat the right foods.
In fact, many health experts say in order to shed those pounds it's actually more about your food choices than how much time you spend on the treadmill.
That's why every Saturday Lauren Michael visits The Home Grown Farm stand at the Waco Farmer's Market.
She buys dark greens like kale, spinach and broccoli, which are all super foods loaded antioxidants and calcium.
"Here you know who your farmer is and there is kind of a niceness about having a face to where you are getting your produce from," Michael said.
Which is an interesting story in itself, because at The Home Grown Farm it's truly a family affair.
It's run by three 3 siblings, Melanie Tull and her big brother Brandon and Toby.
"There's something very unique about the reward that comes from giving people good food that you know and you believe in," said Toby Tull.
A concept Central Texans are literally eating it up.
"Knowing that we are supporting a local farm. We know the guys that grow all this food and we come talk to them every week, " said Trisha Duncan
