(KCEN) -- Fort Hood will host the modern day combatives tournament this evening.
Combatives is the U.S. Army's style of fighting.
Two-hundred-twenty-nine soldiers trained, competed and were eliminated down to 32 fighters.
They are trained to fight unarmed only using their arms and legs.
With 16 fights and three different weight classes, winning solders will get a chance to fight in the all army combatives tournament at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs.
According to Combative Director Kristopher Perkins, "They are going to be battle buddies for life. Because when you share something in the Army like this. They become your friends sometimes closer than your family."
Coming up at 10 we'll show you the impact the fights make on Fort Hood.
