Daytona President Comments on Tragic Accident

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Despite yesterday's horrific crash that injured at least 28 fans at the Daytona International Speedway the big race continued today.

But before the cars were off and running the speedway's president Joie Chitwood III held a press conference to address yesterday's accident.

"I just want to reiterate how important our fans are to us, as we continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. We had our guest services team dispatched over to Halifax and other medical institutions last night, and we helped all those that were released from the medical care to get reunited with family and friends."

We'll have more on today's race coming up later in sports.
