(KCEN) -- A Temple teenager was arrested yesterday for breaking into the El Dorado restaurant and taking property from the building.
Around 1:30 a.m. officers received an alarm call at the restaurant. They discovered a suspect had entered the building and had taken property.
El Dorado provided security video, which gave officers a description of the suspect.
Then around 2:30 a.m. a patrol officer found evidence matching the burglary near the 00 block of West Avenue G. That officer then found the male suspect walking in the 600 block of North 4th Street.
The officer approached the suspect, 17-year-old Joaquin Garza, of Temple, and found property from El Dorado in his possession.
Garza was taken into custody and put in the back of the patrol car.
While the officer was gathering additional evidence, Garza moved his handcuffed hands from behind his back to the front of his body. He was then able to open the plexi glass divider, between the front and back of the car, and climb into the front seat.
The officer saw him in the front seat and pulled him from the vehicle. That's when Garza started to physically resist the officers.
Backup arrived and Garza was again taken into custody.
The Bell County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case but has not issued a criminal complaint at this time.
Garza is in the Bell County Jail and is charged with resisting arrest or search. Officers are still investigating the robbery.
