WACO, Texas — Baylor football will open spring drills Friday, March 1, and conclude the 15-practice
workouts Saturday, April 6,
with a controlled scrimmage. The scrimmage and all spring workouts will
take place at the Highers Complex practice fields located behind the
Simpson Center on University Parks Drive.
Baylor spring practice dates are scheduled for March 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, April 2, 4, 5 and 6. Fan inquiries about attending workouts may be directed to the

Head
coach Art Briles opens his sixth season in 2013 with a squad made up of
49 returning lettermen from 2012 and welcomes four scholarship
newcomers during spring drills (mid-year
junior college signee Gus Penning, a tight end from Riverside Community
College;
early
enrollee Chris Johnson, a quarterback from Bryan [Texas] High School;
and two enrollees from BU's 2012 signing class: nickelback Kiante'
Griffin of Hebron High School in Carrollton,
Texas, and defensive end Brian Nance of Trinity High School in Euless,
Texas).
The
2013 Bears roster includes 15 returning starters (six offensive, seven
defensive and two specialists) from last year's Holiday Bowl
championship team that finished 8-5
and won its final four games. Baylor's record-setting offense set or
tied 37 school records and two NCAA marks. The Bears have won
back-to-back bowl games for the first time in 25 years.
Baylor opens the season Aug. 31 when it hosts Wofford at Floyd Casey Stadium. The 2013 season will be Baylor's 63rd and final in "The Case" before moving into new
Baylor Stadium along the Brazos River in 2014.
