Lawmakers Trying to Decide if American Airlines and U.S. Airways Merger Would Harm Customers

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- There is new information on the possible partnership between American Airlines and U.S. Airways.

It's causing some turbulence on Capitol Hill.

Lawmakers are trying to figure out if the merger would harm consumers.

Issues like the cost of flying, service routes and even the overall competition of the airline industry were targeted during a House committee hearing today.

Some say the deal is bad news for travelers.

They say it could mean higher rates, fewer seats and less competition in the market place.
