Seniors Receive Free Pet Health Care Thanks To Non Profit

Posted: Updated:

Imagine what's most important to seniors.

Certainly on their list, good meals and even their treasured pet's well being.

Two organizations have now teamed up to provide both.

After contacting Meals on Wheels for a list of seniors, a non-profit group, Animal Birth Control Clinic, provided about 20 pets with basic preventative health care.

from shots, all the way to spaying and neutering.

This free animal health care and transportation was all done for those of us who often need a little extra help.

Margaret Standifer was more than excited when she learned her baby Penny, would be getting some much needed medical attention.

"I'm definitely appreciative, well yea for sure, I said I'm a lucky girl," said Standifer.

Living on social security, Margaret and many others don't have a lot of spare cash to take care of things like visits to the vet.

"I got a bill up there where I carried her to the doctor and they gave her a shot and things and told me 72 dollars," said Standifer.

But that worry is gone thanks to the non profits Meals on Wheels and Animal Birth Control Clinic.

"When they first told me I said well I don't know if I can have it done right no. And they said well its free, it's not going to cost you anything I said yay," said senior who received free animal health care Laura Mack.

Free parvo, heartworm shots, nail trimming and spaying and neutering.

"It makes me happy that they see the importance of taking care of their best friends," said ABC Executive Director Carrie Kuehl.

Which is exactly what the organization is all about, making sure all animals are taken care of for an affordable price.

"We did this just because we knew it was the right thing to do, but its not funded going in," said Kuehl.

Which why volunteers just like this are so important.

"It didn't bother me none because I know they going to bring mommas baby back," said Standifer.

And with her girl Penny home safe and sound, Margaret's life is that much sweeter.
