Staring on March 1st, social security checks will no longer be in the mail for millions of Americans.
The federal government is phasing out paper checks for all benefit programs, forcing people to get electronic checks either through direct deposit or a debit card for those without a bank account.
The changes will affect people who get Social Security, veterans' benefits, railroad pensions and federal disability payments.
Ninety percent of people who receive federal benefits already get their payments electronically.
However, if you haven't made the switch yet, you can go online and do so at www.godirect.org.
