
UPDATE (KCEN) -- Police are now saying the child thought to have drowned at a residence on Doffy Drive in Killeen has survived.
Around 8:45 a.m. Killeen police and fire departments responded to a call of a 3-year-old boy found underwater.
Police say the mother of the child contacted her neighbors, who performed CPR until paramedics made it to the house.
Paramedics continued CPR when they arrived and transported the boy to Scott & White Children's Hospital in Temple.
The child's mother was running a bath for him when she left him alone for a brief period of time. When she returned to the bath, she found the boy unresponsive.
He is reported to be in stable condition and is conscious and alert.
The Killeen Police Department is investigating the situation.
