New Fitness Center And Shower Nook For Moms To Be

Posted: Updated:

Central Texas mom's, if you're struggling to work off those pregnancy pounds there's a new facility in Killeen that's helping women do just that.

Forty-five year old Captain Lameka Grayson has been serving in the U.S. military for about 23 years.

Now an army reservist, she decided now was the time to do something she's always wanted, become a mom.

"As a soldier we are required to do pretty much pt, and we do the prenatal fitness, and all of that," said Storkmommas & Storkdaddys owner Lameka Grayson.

While going through the mandatory prenatal fitness classes, Lameka realized there was nothing of the sort for regular everyday moms.

"There are certain things that you can't do in each stage in pregnancy, so I wanted to actually get a place where people can work out, and work out amongst people that look just like them," said Grayson.

So she created Storkmommas Fitness and Shower Nook.

The facility provides special classes just for mom and baby.

They've got total mom and baby fitness, Zumba, Yoga, and even prenatal massages.

"I want to do the yoga, and I want to do all of it because I have an almost 10 year old and I didn't do this stuff with him, it wasn't available, and so it's fun I'm doing a lot of stuff I haven't done before," said mommy to be Cookie Hardin.

And that's not all the new business offers.

The building can also be rented out for baby showers and wedding showers, providing a cozy home feel, with a cheap price.

"There's nothing like this in Killeen," said Hardin.

Once moms get done working out they can make their way to Storkddaddys right next door.

The sister business is a child's consignment shop that offers everything from baby clothes to baby accessories.

Helping local moms not only save money at the store, but also stay fit throughout their entire pregnancy.

"I just try to make this a place where people can have a nice place to workout and then also have a baby shower and it be affordable too," said Grayson.
