(KCEN) -- A baby born with the AIDS virus now has no detectable virus in her blood.
Doctors say the girl got immediate treatment after her birth and is now 2 1/2-years-old and healthy.
Her case has doctors talking about the possibility that immediate treatment with HIV drugs may do a lot to protect those who are newly infected.
Doctors also caution that this is not a true cure but what doctors call a sterilizing cure.
There is still virus in the toddler's body but it's not doing any damage.
It doesn't appear to be spreading from one cell to another or damaging the child's immune system.
