(KCEN) -- The Baylor campus suffered a tragic loss this weekend after one of the school's students passed away.

The university released a statement to students saying that freshman Kevin Signo died Sunday morning after sustaining an injury.

On Saturday night, he was practicing a traditional dance with the Filipino Student Association. During a break, Signo attempted to do a flip and landed on his head.

He passed away on Sunday morning.

Signo was a pre-biology major from Frisco. He lived in Martin Hall and was involved in the Filipino Student Association.

Funeral services are pending.

The university said in a statement to students, "We ask that you keep the Signo family and Kevin's many friends in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time."
