Bell County Fire Burned More Than 175 Acres

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE (KCEN) -- The fire that burned more than 175 acres in Bell County is now completely contained.

-----------------------------------

Fire fighters continued to battle a fire Monday night that burned more than 175 acres in Bell County near Iron Bridge Park in Moody.

Around 3:20 a.m. they scaled back and returned home.

The fire originally started Sunday around 4 p.m. from a campfire.

Strong winds quickly fueled the flames, making the fire difficult to contain.

Bell County Fire Department said they will continue to monitor wind conditions, making sure fly away embers don't spark other fires.

Another small grass fire broke out Monday night on Paddy Hamilton Road.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. but was contained in less than 30 minutes.
