California police are investigating a incident after an elderly woman died after a nurse refused to perform CPR on her after she collapsed in a nursing home.
Police are trying to determine if any criminal wrongdoings were committed.
Lorraine Bayless, 77, collapsed at the Glenwood Gardens Facility around 11 a.m.
A staff member called 911 but refused to give the woman CPR, according to a recording of the call.
A dispatcher pleaded with a nurse to perform CPR on the resident but she refused saying it was against company policy.
During the exchange between the nurse and the dispatcher, the dispatcher can be heard saying, "I don't understand why you're not willing to help this patient.''
An ambulance arrived several minutes later and they took Bayless to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The company released a statement yesterday saying the nurse followed proper protocol.
The daughter of the woman who died is a nurse and says she believes the facility acted appropriately.
