(KCEN) -- Preventing military suicides is on Congress's agenda.

The House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel held a hearing on suicide prevention this afternoon.

Among those testifying are top leaders from each of the Armed Forces and the Acting Director of the Defense Department's Suicide Prevention Office.

In 2011 the suicide rate among active-duty members of the Army rose to nearly 23 per 100,000.
