The McLennan Highlassies' season came to an end with a 67-54 loss to the
New Mexico Lady Thunderbirds this afternoon in the opening round of the
Region V Tournament in Lubbock.
MCC opened the game on a 7-0
run. New Mexico responded with a 7-0 run of their own to tie the game
with 15:32 to play in the first half. The Lady Thunderbirds built a
nine-point lead midway through the half and held the 31-23 advantage at
the break.
The Highlassies cut the lead to five at 37-32 with
16:51 remaining in the game. New Mexico broke the game open with a 16-0
run to build a 21-point lead midway through the half. MCC cut the lead
to 12 several times down the stretch but was unable to pull any closer.
Shanice Davis led MCC with 16 points and Dominique Taylor added 12.
The Highlassies end the season with an overall record of 17-14.
