Baylor Lady Bears Kick Off Big 12 Tournament

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- The Baylor Lady Bears tip off their Big 12 Tournament schedule today and they are certainly the favorite to win the tournament without a doubt.

They're looking for their 3rd straight Big 12 Tournament title

Baylor started the game on a 21-3 run and never looked back.

Brittney Griner was honored before the game for winning another Big 12 Player of the Year Award as thousands of Baylor fans packed the American Airlines Center.

They saw the Lady Bears hold Kansas State to just 20 percent shooting in the first half as Kim Mulkey played her entire roster in a 80-47 win over the Wildcats.

Baylor scored everytime they touched the basketball, shooting 58 percent for the game, led by Griner, who was one assist short of a triple double.

And while it seems like the attention is only on a few players, Kim Mulkey says that's ok with the rest of her team.

"They came to Baylor four years ago to win a championship and everyone of them knew who was coming, but they didn't go somewhere else because they were afraid of minutes being taken away. It's about the ring, it's about championships," Mulkey said.

Baylor's win puts them in tomorrow's semi-finals against an Oklahoma State team they beat by an average score of 26.5 points.

That game is set to tip off at 1:00.
