(KCEN) -- Police in Arlington are upgrading from their skycam to something much bigger and better.
The federal government recently approved the use of unmanned aircraft by the force.
The 58-inch long, remote-controlled helicopters will be flown "within view" of the officer operating them.
And while it may sound like they'll be using drones, police officials in Arlington want people to know these aircraft will carry cameras, not weapons.
Sgt. Christopher Cook with the Arlington Police Department said, "We are not going to use these in routine patrol. These are only going to be used after careful evaluation."
Police say it will also allow them to assist other agencies and cut time during accident reconstructions.
