8 Hour Workday May Become Thing of the Past

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- With more and more advancements in technology and the ability to stay connected, the eight-hour work day is becoming a thing of the past.

The flexibility of smart phones, iPads, tablets and other mobile devices has changed the definition of the home office.

Employees are now able to check their e-mail or voicemail at any time from any place.

Constant access afforded by our mobile devices gives us more flexibility, however, the hours spent checking email and voicemail is adding to our work load.

According to the PEW Research Center, 45 percent of Americans now own a smartphone and 31 percent own a tablet.
