(KCEN) -- A big warning has been released from the Food and Drug Administration about one of the most popular antibiotics in the U.S.
The FDA says azithromycin, also known as the Z-pack, can cause a potentially fatal irregular heart beat.
That's because the drug can alter the electrical activity of your heart, making the beats irregular.
Those at risk for this side effect include people with a slower than normal heart rate, those who use drugs to treat an irregular heart rhythm and those who have low levels of potassium or magnesium.
Z-packs are commonly used to treat sinus infections and bronchitis.
