(KCEN) -- A family of 13 has been displaced after their home caught on fire on Tuesday night.
Temple firefighters responded to the home at 1901 North 7th Street and saw heavy smoke coming from the attic of the two story house.
They tried to extinguish the fire from inside the house but the flames went through the roof. That's when the firefighters got out of the house and fought the blaze from outside.
Officials say the family was home when the fire started. They were able to get out of the home safely.
Thirteen people living there, two adults and 11 children ages six to 16, have been displaced.
The Red Cross is helping with their immediate needs.
Fire officials said the attic and second story of the house received a lot of fire damage. The rest of the house received smoke and water damage.
The dollar amount lost has not been determined yet.
Investigators did say the fire was unintentional and they believe it started in the attic but are unsure how it started.
