(KCEN) -- After hours of deliberating, a Bell County jury has decided the fate of 20-year-old Erik Adrian Mungia Trejo.
Back in 2011 Trejo was involved in a car accident that killed a six-month-old boy and unborn child.
Yesterday evening, Trejo plead guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and man slaughter.
After that, the judge and jury decided Trejo will serve a 10-year probation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 10 years jail time for manslaughter along with a $10,000 fine.
Trejo was allegedly racing another car down Highway 95 when he slammed into the victim, Nelly Velasquez's vehicle at about 88 miles per hour.
The accident killed Velasquez's six-month-old son and her unborn child.
Trejo's uncle, Michael Mugia Trejo, said, "What's on the paper that they put down on paper that Eric did and what he did is not the kind of person he really is. You know he's a family person. He does have a daughter. He's going to miss her dearly and he's going to miss a lot of years with her. But also the other family is going to miss time with their kid that they lost."
Velasquez's pastor, Jose Rivera, said, "We don't feel comfortable with what happened here because both families you know are in pain, painful with what happened with the accident. But it was justice. They did what they had to do."
The judge told Trejo he had thirty days to talk over his sentence with his lawyers to decide if he wants to appeal.
