(KCEN) -- If you didn't file your federal tax return for 2009, you could be missing out on a refund.
The Internal Revenue Service says it has 917 million dollars in unclaimed tax refunds from 2009.
More than 984,000 taxpayers haven't submitted returns for that year.
The IRS estimates roughly half of the unclaimed refunds amount to more than $500 per person.
But time is running out to claim the cash.
2009 tax returns must be submitted by April 15 of this year.
If you miss that deadline, your money will be handed over to the U.S. Treasury.
