(KXAN) - The weather was perfect, the view of the skyline beautiful, and the music heart-pounding.
Auditorium Shores was alive and hopping Thursday with the first of three nights of free SXSW concerts.
There were the usual kiosks of food and beverages, and something new this year; a marketplace set up selling art, clothing and jewelry.
"This is something new," Julie Wheat of Cavortress said. "We used to be at the convention center, but they invited us here this year and it should be fun."
Performers on Thursday included Jovanotti, Bajofondo and Molotove. Jason Wall had his spot picked out at 5 p.m. in front of the stage, saying, "If I could be on the stage it would be even more awesome."
Friday's performers include Jim James, Divine Fits and The Flaming Lips. The Flaming Lips will perform brand new music that will be on their album due out in April.
Saturday's list includes: The Mother Hips, Nicki Buhm and the Gramblers, Spirit Family Reunion, James Hunter, J.J. Grey and Mofro, Los Lonely Boys, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and The Midnight Ramble Band.
