(KCEN) -- Vice President Joe Biden is in Italy today, along with a U.S. delegation to attend the inauguration of Pope Francis tomorrow.

And Argentinean President Christina Fernandez de Kirchner will meet with Pope Francis later today.

As the bishop of Buenos Aires, the two leaders have discussed controversial topics before, such as same-sex marriage.

Fernandez' government legalized it in 2010.

At the time, then Cardinal Bergoglio called the decision an, "aspiration to destroy God's plan."
