A home is a total loss after an early morning fire Tuesday in Waco.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. on the 11th hundred block of North 9th Street.

The home's owner said he smelled smoke and realized his home was on fire.

He made it out safely with no injuries and is being sheltered by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
