Opening remarks Tuesday in the murder trial of Mark Norwood revealed more DNA evidence that exonerated a man who was wrongly convicted for 25 years.

Michael Morton was convicted of his wife Christine's beating death in 1986.

A year and a half ago, DNA evidence connects Mark Norwood to her death.

A piece of key evidence includes a .45 caliber handgun that was taken from Michael Morton's closet the night his wife was killed. Michael testified that he had not seen the gun since.

Prosecutors told the jury the gun was found in Tennessee with a man who is friends with Norwood.

Sonny Wann told investigators he bought the gun from Norwood.

Norwood's criminal record includes burglary, assault and arson among others.

His trial is expected to take new weeks.
