(KCEN) -- Police have identified the officer who they say shot a man in self-defense.
Waco Police Officer Fransisco Reyes has been with the department for six years.
Police said he pulled the trigger when Alexander Mendoza turned toward them in a threatening manner with a rifle.
The shooting happened around 7:30 Monday night at a home in the 2000 block of Lyle Avenue.
Mendoza is charged with attempted capital murder and is in jail on $30,000 bond.
