UPDATE (KCEN) -- The highway has been reopened.
--------------------------------
(KCEN) -- A six-vehicle accident has shut down I-35 northbound near exit 322, just north of Lorena.
The accident happened around 7:45 this morning and involves four cars and two semi trucks.
Officials say the wreck was a chain reaction because people were following too closely.
One person was taken to the hospital with minor injures.
Cars were stuck for about an hour before traffic began moving again. Right now all traffic is moving slowly, as it is being diverted off the highway.
According to TxDOT, one semi's fuel tank was punctured. About 100 gallons of diesel spilled onto the road, which will require HazMat cleanup.
The highway is expected to reopen in a couple of hours.
Anyone driving northbound through the area on I-35 is advised to take alternative routes.
