UPDATE: Victims' names released in Jasper County fatal wreck

A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety Friday morning released the names of two people who were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 96 north of Kirbyville.

The spokesperson said Wallace Paul Rogers Sr., 57, of Hemphill, and Ginger Norwood, 66, of Orange, were killed in the accident.

A dispatcher the day of the accident told 12News an 18-wheeler and a pickup collided at about 5 p.m. at the corner of CR 498.

A trooper on the scene told a 12News photographer that the pickup was headed north on Highway 96 and hydroplaned, careening into oncoming traffic. The truck hit the 18-wheeler, killing both the driver and the passenger of the pickup truck.
