Panel Selection is Underway in Hasan Trial

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Panel selection began today.

Twenty potential panel members came in and were sworn in.

Judge Osborn gave them all instructions and said not to form an opinion about Hasan because of his beard or his Army Combat Uniform.

She also asked the potential panel members to disregard heightened security measures.

The judge went on to ask the potential members if anyone knew any of the victims. One of the potential members knew the veteran that was killed.

Judge Obsorn read off about 300 names of potential witnesses and some of the potential panel members knew six of them.

The Government did ask general questions, however, Hasan chose not to ask any.

As of now, there will be 120 potential panel members brought in in groups of 20.

Panel selection is expected to take about a month.
