Tunica, Miss. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team
posted four scores in the 70's and the Cru sits in a tie for ninth place
after the opening round of the Rhodes College Men's Fall Classic Sunday
in Tunica, Mississippi. UMHB fired an opening day 304 total to tie
DePauw University and Texas Lutheran University for ninth place.
Tournament host Rhodes College has the team lead after shooting 292, one
stroke better than U.T.-Tyler and Wittenberg University's 293's.
Oglethorpe posted 295 for fourth place and Transylvania rounds out the
top five with a 299. Berry College recorded a 300 for sixth place and
Huntingdon College and Southwestern University are tied for seventh
place at 301. There is a 20-team field competing in the two-day, 36-hole
event. The tournament is being played on a par-72, 7,125-yard layout at
Tunica National Golf Course.
Pablo Mena Medrano posted the low individual round for the Cru, firing a 75 to tie for 27th place. Justin Judkins and Robby Schimmels both posted 76's to tie for 39th place, Stayton Lindeman is tied for 46th after shooting 77 and Jarrod Brown carded an 80 to tie for 72nd place. Oglethorpe's Anthony Maccaglia has the individual lead with a six-under-par 66.
The tournament wraps up with 18 more holes tomorrow. Teams will tee off for the final round with an 8:30 AM shotgun start.
