Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel record-setting performance in the Aggies' narrow loss to top-ranked Alabama earned him a share of the Paul Hornung Award weekly honors on Monday. The Hornung Award is presented annually to the nation's most versatile player.

Manziel, a sophomore from Kerrville, Texas, gashed the Crimson Tide defense for 562 total yards with school-record 464 yards through the air and another 98 on the ground. Manziel's 562 yards ranks No. 2 in Southeastern Conference history behind his 576-yard effort against Louisiana Tech in 2012. Manziel directed an Aggie offensive attack that generated 628 yards, which was the most allowed by Alabama in program history.

Manziel shared the award with running back Marion Grice of Arizona State, running back Jeff Scott of Ole Miss, running back De'Anthony Thomas of Oregon and Trey Watts of Tulsa.
