(KXAS) -- The Arlington Fire Department was called to rescue several motorists stranded in high water Friday morning.

The department said several vehicles at Webb Ferrell Road and Hanrahan Avenue in Southeast Arlington were rescued by firefighters using a ladder truck. The photo above shows one of the rescues in this area.

Four people were safely rescued from their vehicles at that scene, fire crews said.

An urban and small stream flooding warning had been issued by the National Weather Service earlier in the morning, alerting drivers to the possibility of high water on the roadways.

Drivers are encouraged to observe the warning, "Turn Around, Don't Drown," when seeing water on the roadway.
