Subject Arrested at Easterwood Airport in College Station

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) - A male subject was arrested today in Easterwood Airport in College Station on Saturday morning.

The University Police Department received a call from airport personnel reporting an individual who had allegedly stolen an airport passenger bus and was driving on the airport runway. Officers arrived on the scene and located the bus with the alleged suspect.

The suspect is identified as David Cooper Thurmond, age 54, from Bryan.

Thurmond entered the airport property through a large pedestrian gate. He then took the passenger bus and drove across the runways to a terminal where he was confronted by airport personnel. The two engaged in a brief struggle before the police arrived.

Upon reviewing airport surveillance videos, Thurmond was attempting to enter a jet bridge and was in the vicinity of an American Eagle airplane. A security seal inspected the door of the airplane and discovered it was broken. The plane was thoroughly inspected by TSA and AA representatives.

Thurmond was arrested and charged with assault, criminal trespass and theft. He was transported to the Brazos County Jail.
