Government Shutdown Looms

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- The budget battle and government shutdown loom in Washington.

It still could be avoided, but a partial shutdown of the federal government takes effect at midnight Eastern Time tonight, and a deal doesn't look likely.

Today the Senate shot down a budget deal that was passed by the House this weekend.

It would have paid the nations bills, delaying Obamacare for another year.

The ball is back in John Boehner's court. There's a new house Republican plan, but it still would push back Obamacare, and Democrats still refuse.
