Church Mourns Loss of Six Parishioners

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Twelve North Carolina church members remain in critical condition on Thursday after a bus crashed killed six other members.

On Wednesday, the bus was on its way back to Statesville, North Carolina with the group who had attended the Fall Jubilee in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The bus blew a tire and crossed the median.

It then crashed into a tractor trailer and clipped an SUV.

The bus then flipped over and the tractor trailer caught fire.

One person in the SUV was killed and so was the driver of the tractor trailer.

On Thursday, the pastor of the church says they're leaning on their faith.

"We know that God is in control and we know that he's able to heal," says Pastor Rick Cruz.

The six church members who died were senior members of the church.
