Killeen Police Involved in Standoff That Resolves Peacefully

(KCEN) - Killeen Police were involved in a standoff on Alan Kent Drive that was resolved peacefully.

Officers received a 911 call on Saturday morning from a female who was involved in a domestic disturbance with her fiancee who refused to give her their 3-year-old child. When the officers met with the woman, she told the officers that he had weapons inside the residence he was in and had made several threats towards her and the child.

Officers tried to contact the male by phone and it was determined he was at the residence refusing to come out.

Due to the seriousness of the situation, the Killeen Police Department's Tactical Response Unit was deployed.

When members of the TRU broke down a window to get a communication device to him, the man surrender with the child. The man was taken into custody and transported immediately tot he Killeen City Jail.

His name and photo have been withheld until this case is reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney's office and formal charges are returned.

The child was unharmed during this standoff and has been released to the mother.
