Emily Collins joined the KCEN HD News Team in June of 2013 as a weekday reporter and anchor of KCEN's Saturday evening newscasts.
Emily began her journalism career in July of 2008 at The Victoria Television Group in Victoria, TX as a general assignments reporter. A year later, she became the weekend anchor, and in June 2010 she made the jump to anchor/producer of KAVU's 5 p.m. and KVCT's 9 p.m. newscasts.
Emily is a native Texan and proud of it! She was born and raised in Houston and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches with a Broadcast Journalism degree in December 2007.
Emily returned to Houston the semester before graduation to intern at KTRK ABC13. After her internship, KTRK hired her as a temporary assignments editor. Shortly thereafter, they offered her a position as production assistant. Through her internship and job experience KTRK, Emily learned much about the news industry. At KTRK, Emily had the chance to shadow some of the best people in the news industry. She could not have asked for a better opportunity.
Emily is excited to call Central Texas home and looks forward to exploring all that it has to offer. She loves meeting new people and learning new things. So, if you see her around town, please feel free to stop and say "hi".
Emily also loves sharing a good story. If you have one or you just want to drop her line, you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
