Gun Rally At The Alamo

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) --- The Alamo, Texas's symbol of liberty and independence was the focus of a rally today calling for gun rights.

Hundreds of people carrying rifles and shotguns rallied outside the Alamo in opposition to an ordinance in San Antonio that limits the carrying of firearms, but the rally has drawn attention for another reason.

Historically, demonstrations like this have not been permitted at the Alamo because it's considered hallowed ground.

Texas General Land Office gave permission.

Land commissioner, Jerry Patterson, says he believes those who died fighting at the Alamo would have supported today's rally.
