Trucker Robbed at Gunpoint at Hill County Truck Stop

Posted: Updated:

A trucker was robbed at gun point just north of Abbott, in Hill County Sunday morning. The semi-truck was carrying carpet from Mexico to be delivered in Canada, a trip the driver says he makes often.

He was sleeping in the cab of his truck at the Sunmart Truck Stop when two men knocked on the door and asked him for help at about 6:50 a.m. Sunday.

When the trucker got out to assist them, the two men pushed him up against the semi and robbed him at gun point -- taking his wallet.

An employee at the gas station said she didn't see the incident because another man was walking around inside the store for about thirty minutes while the robbery took place.

All three men were arrested by police shortly after at a truck-wash down the road. The trucker was returned to his vehicle by a sheriff at around 1:30 p.m.
