Famed Journalist, Author Bob Woodward Speaks at MCC

Posted: Updated:

Celebrated investigative journalist and non-fiction author Bob Woodward took the stage at the MCC Conference Center Tuesday night.

Woodward was featured as part of the McLennan Community College Distinguished Lecture Series.

The annual series is designed to bring nationally known speakers to Waco.

MCC has a long history of bringing guest, who can provide an expertise in a particular field and have been honored in that field, to the campus.

Woodward is best known for breaking the Watergate Scandal with Carl Bernstein in 1972.

He spoke in depth about the milestones reached in his career and how he reached them.

Woodward also shared his political and presidential views from the Nixon Era to today.

"What's the biggest thing to worry about in my view? Is secret government," said Woodward. "That, that is what will do us in, Republicans or Democrats."

Woodward said if you look at enough of history, the democracies that have died have been because there is no system of a government.

Woodward has authored or co-authored 17 national nonfiction bestsellers, including "All the President's Men" and "The Price of Politics".
