Halloween Rush

Posted: Updated:

The countdown to Halloween is underway and kids will be out trick-or-treating in less than a week.

Moms like Rebecca Cornett were out hunting for the perfect Halloween outfits today, but the holiday is more than candy and costumes for her. She enjoys seeing how much her little girl has grown up.

"It's awesome watching her cause she'll go to the door and she'll actually talk to people now," Cornett said.  "Before she would just kind of walk around."

Cornett wasn't the only one doing last minute shopping. Wally's Party Factory is working overtime to keep up with the steady stream of customers looking for last minute deals.

Store Manager Clifton Hampton says the store is open until 9:00pm every night until Halloween and serving about 350 customers a day. "The closer we get to Halloween, it'll go up even more," he said.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $2.6 Billion on Halloween costumes this year and the most popular costume for children is expected to be a princess.

(CNN) -- It may be possible to rewire your brain so that it wants -- craves, even -- healthier foods. How? By following a healthy diet. We know, that wasn't the quick fix to afternoon ice cream binges you were hoping for. But this research could lead to a more sci-fi solution to the obesity epidemic. In a pilot study published Monday in the journal Nutrition Diabetes, scientists say that changing your eating behavior can actually change how your brain reacts to high-calorie and low-calori...More >>
